Heer Mortuaries & Crematory
(November 26, 1914 - May 1, 2012)
Lyle Richard Ring, 97, of Crook, CO, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 1, 2012.
Lyle was born to Florence and William Ring in Smith Center, Kansas on November 26, 1914. His mother died when he was a toddler and he was raised by his second mother Wilma.
Lyle farmed with his father in Kansas before moving to Sedgwick, Colorado. He was an avid farmer and rancher and started Ring Brothers Farming with his brother Mel.
In 1935, Lyle married the love of his life Ruth, and they have spent the last 76 years by each other’s side. After retiring from years of farming, Lyle and Ruth became snowbirds and started migrating south to Mesa, Arizona with their dear friends, John and Anna Roberts. While in Arizona, Lyle realized his love and passion for softball, playing until he was 90 years old, when open-heart surgery forced him into early retirement. Lyle and his teams went on to win the Seniors Softball World Series Championships in 1992 and 1995. Lyle used to joke that he had more rings than John Elway. His love for softball was passed on to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides farming and softball, Lyle loved spending time with his family, playing cards- mostly Board of Trade, watching and cheering on the Rockies and the Broncos. Most of all Lyle loved the Lord and was a member of the United Church of Crook. There was not a stranger that Lyle did not approach with some sort of joke or story. His love for life and people was infectious.
Lyle is survived by his loving wife, daughter Lyla Carwin and husband Gene of Fort Morgan, Daughter-in-law, Dee Martz and husband Dave of Colorado Springs, Grandchildren: Von and Jodi Ring, of Fort Collins, Janell Stone of Denver, LaJean and Mark Hertel of Colorado Springs, Greg and Deb Carwin of Brush, Sandi and Dan McMillen of Denver, Burke Fielder of Dallas, Alison and Chad Covak of Parker, Jaylene and Eric Kunze of Denver, and James Carwin of Fort Morgan. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, son Norman, and brothers Charles and Melbourne Ring and an infant sister.
